Opening Hours

The Nursery is open daily and offers morning, afternoon or full day sessions.

Monday to Friday
7:30am – 5:30pm


The nursery is open 51 weeks per year including most public and bank holidays.

We close only for 1 week over the Christmas and New Year period.

our facilities

Smallworld Nursery, which is located in the former Bank Street School building, was converted into a purpose-built nursery in 2006. It can now accommodate up to 180 children aged 0-5 years, with the addition of four new playrooms in 2020, plus 30 children in the Out of Schools Club. Conveniently located near the town centre, the nursery offers a dedicated drop-off area for parents.
The safety and well-being of every child is of the utmost importance, and the nursery has implemented measures such as automatic fire detection, outdoor CCTV, and secure door entry systems to ensure their safety. The outdoor play area is designed to stimulate children's curiosity and development while providing a safe and secure environment to play.

Smallworld Nursery is proud to be one of the largest employers in Brechin, with a dedicated team of 46 employees who are committed to providing exceptional childcare. Our team includes a cook, kitchen assistant, cleaners, Early Years Assistants, Early Years Practitioners, Assistant Managers, Manager, and Office Manager.

We ensure that all our staff hold recognised childcare qualifications or are actively working towards obtaining one, ensuring that your child receives high-quality care from knowledgeable professionals. We strive to maintain consistency in our staffing, with the same team members working in the same room whenever possible, allowing them to use their expertise to benefit your child's development. In the event of any staff absences it is sometimes necessary to move staff around to maintain staffing ratios.
