At Smallworld Nursery we provide each baby with an online learning journal that is updated regularly by our staff and you, the parents. This journal captures individual milestones and achievements that your child makes, and it continues to follow them until they move to our ante-pre-school room.
As a parent, you will be provided with login credentials to access your child’s journal at any time. Our team works closely with you to ensure continuity of care for your baby. They welcome your child at the start of the day and provide you with regular updates on their play experiences, meals, and other important information at the end of the day. We believe that this open communication channel between our staff and parents is essential for building a strong partnership that supports your child’s growth and development.
In our nursery setting, each child is assigned a key worker – A member of staff who will care for and support that child on a regular basis. They are responsible for building a strong relationship with each child and their family, and act as the main point of contact for any questions or concerns.
Our key workers work closely with their assigned children, getting to know their personalities, interests, and developmental needs, and use this knowledge to plan activities and experiences that support their growth and learning. They observe and assess their key children’s progress, keeping track of their development and ensuring that they are meeting their milestones. Key workers also provide emotional support, comfort, and guidance to their children, helping them to develop social skills, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Partnership with Parents
We hold an annual open evening for children to bring their parents along to show them around their learning environment. These dates will be set in advance and will also be used to discuss transition from room to room or from nursery to school, your child’s progress or any other relevant issues raised by the staff or parents. These will be offered on an appointment basis and/or an open evening and will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress with his/her key worker and to share any thoughts or concerns you may have.
We also have different opportunities throughout the year for parents to join us in the setting, including our ‘stay and play session’.
We have a private Facebook Group for existing parents where we share updates on what is happening within the Nursery and any events to look out for. You will be sent a link once your child starts at the nursery.
